A woman has been flown to hospital with head and chest injuries after being injured by a horse on a property near Nanango on Monday afternoon.

The Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight helicopter was able to land close to the incident.

A spokesperson said it was believed the woman had been washing her horse, when it kicked her in the chest and then stomped on her.

The LifeFlight team was called to the scene about 1:30pm, joining local Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics who were already assisting the patient.

The woman, who is aged in her 50s, was flown to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
