How many koalas are in the South Burnett?

May 31, 2023

The Burnett Catchment Care Association is seeking volunteers to collect and analyse koala poop!

The group is in the process of compiling the Burnett region’s first baseline dataset for koala populations.

It has organised workshops on koala scat collection and testing at various locations across the Burnett.

In the South Burnett, a field day will be held at the Wooroolin Wetlands on June 8, and at Lions Park in Nanango on June 9.

According to the Australian Koala Foundation, “koalas in the Burnett may well be the last in the South-East Queensland Bioregion”.

Places in the workshops are very limited.
