The South Burnett Rail Trail will again be hosting this year’s Mother’s Day Classic fundraiser for breast cancer research this Sunday.
Registrations can be made online for various walks and runs, which will begin at Wondai:
- 8:55am – Walk 8km
- 9:00am – Run 4km
- 9:00am – Walk 4km
Dogs are allowed but must be kept on a lead
More than 60,000 people are expected to participate in similar events across Australia on Sunday.
Mother’s Day Classic Foundation CEO Zara Lawless said there were 11 events being held in major cities and metro areas and 62 in local regions, with registrations already greater than last year.
The events have raised about $41.5 million for breast cancer research over the past 25 years.
Proceeds go to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
Breast cancer is still the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women in Australia with nine people dying from it every day.
