Two all-day workshops will be held in the South Burnett later this month to help inspire local producers to value-add to their businesses.

The workshops, which start at 9:00am, are being held at two well-known local farms which have expanded their offerings beyond primary production:

  • May 17 – Taabinga Station, at Haly Creek
  • May 18 – Firebreak Farm, at Neumgna (near Maidenwell)

Guest speakers are Justin Heaven, from Food Leaders Australia (FLA), and Rose Wright, the founder and managing director of Regionality Pty Ltd.

FLA, part of Toowoomba and Surat Basin Enterprise (TSBE), was created by the economic development group to help members in the food and agricultural sectors.

It aims to attract investment, as well as working with existing food producers, processors and exporters to capitalise on local and export markets.

Regionality Pty Ltd works with food producers to create alternative markets and build resilience through diversification.

It also runs an agri-tourism business development program to help individual farmers or groups of farmers.

Attendance at the two workshops is free, however registrations are required.

Bookings can be made on the BIEDO website or by phoning 0400-695-456.

“These workshops are funded by the Tarong Community Partnership Fund, proudly supported by Tarong Power Station and Meandu Mine,” BIEDO general manager Kristy Board said.
