You’ve heard of Lady Sings The Blues? Well, what could be more appropriate to celebrate Queensland Day (June 6) than “Lady Sings The Maroons”?
“Lady Sings The Maroons” is Opera Queensland’s deep dive into the State’s musical history.
The production is currently touring regional Queensland. It will be at Kingaroy Town Hall on June 6, hosted by the South Burnett Regional Council.
Music fans will be treated to a unique program inspired by Queensland musicians from across the years, including The Saints, Powderfinger, Gladys Moncrieff, Savage Garden, Joe Geia, Kate Miller-Heidke and Cherbourg’s own Harold Blair.
The production is directed by Laura Hansford and features the voices of Jess Hitchcock, Irena Lysiuk and Marcus Corowa.
“Lady Sings the Maroons holds a mirror up to our extraordinary State with pride,” Laura said.
“On this tour, we are debuting a show that sings about the diversity of this State and its people as we try to capture ‘our Queensland’.”
Cr Danita Potter said having performances of this calibre coming to the South Burnett was a huge benefit to the community.
“I would like to make sure that we give them the support by way of ticket sales, so it gives them the incentive to come back again with other performances,” Cr Potter said.
