A special presentation was made in Memorial Park at the end of Kingaroy’s Anzac Day commemoration.

The Kingaroy Girl Guides members had gathered together in uniform to take part in the ceremony – they marched in the street parade and laid a wreath – so it was the perfect opportunity to honour one of their own.

Veronica May, 17, was presented with the prestigious BP Award by former Kingaroy Girl Guide, Cr Danita Potter.

The award is named after Scouts founder Lord Baden-Powell.

Veronica had to complete a series of challenges and activities to earn her award, which took her months to complete.

However, in the end she completed more than enough – in fact almost double the number of requirements necessary.

She was congratulated by her fellow guides, who also shared some “memorable” stories about her during the ceremony.

Cr Potter said Veronica was an outstanding member of the Guides.

  1. Congratulations and very best wishes, Veronica! No mean feat I should imagine to do all that and with High School studies as well.
