A new Federal Government-funded Head to Health service for adults – first announced last year – will open in Kingaroy later this year.

It is one of 22 Head To Health services which will be set up across the State over the next four years to complement existing health, mental health and wellbeing services.

The Kingaroy service is expected to open in July.

Assistant Minister for Rural and Regional Health Emma McBride said all Australians, no matter where they lived, deserved access to mental health care and support.

“The Commonwealth Government is working closely with State and Territory governments to make sure mental health supports are accessible and tailored for the needs of local communities,” Assistant Minister McBride said.

“These new Head to Health services will make it easier for individuals, families and carers to access mental health and wellbeing support.”

Queensland Health Minister Yvette D’Ath said the State Government was pleased to be working with the Federal Government on Head to Health to make it easier for Queenslanders to access mental health, alcohol and other drugs supports.
