Members of the 2023 South Burnett Youth Council held their first official training session at the weekend, guided by facilitators from the Youth Leadership Academy Australia (YLAA).

The group gathered at the Griffith University training centre in the grounds of Kingaroy Hospital for two days of activities.

They were accompanied by Cr Danita Potter and South Burnett Regional Council community development co-ordinator Margie Hams.

The activities were led by Wil Massara and Christie King from YLAA.

Christie told southburnett.com.au  the workshops were designed to enhance leadership and communication skills to support the Youth Council members to set goals for 2023 to make postive community change.

YLAA describes itself as a “for-youth, by-youth” organisation which aims to equip the youth of today with the skills to be leaders tomorrow.
