Judy Robbins, a member of the Nambour Orchid Society, with the Grand Champion of the show

April 21, 2023

Tewantin orchid grower Judy Robbins took a clean sweep of the ribbons at the 2023 South Burnett Orchid Society show on Saturday.

The show, which is always held on the same weekend as the Wondai Garden Expo, returned to its traditional home at the Wondai Diggers Club for the first time in three years.

Judy, who is a member of the Nambour Orchid Society, admitted she felt a bit embarrassed about taking all the major ribbons.

She brought along 25 orchids and 11 foliage plants for display.

Her Phragmipedium Noirmont hybrid was named Grand Champion of the show.

Her entries also were named Reserve Champion, Best Species and Best Specimen.

Cr Kathy Duff officially opened the show, and sponsored a prize for the “pinkest” orchid.

South Burnett Orchid Society president Linda Olsen said the club meets on the last Sunday of every month from 2:00pm at the South Burnett Enterprise Centre, 6 Cornish Street, Kingaroy.

New members are always welcome to come along!
