The LNP Opposition says ambulance ramping statistics across Queensland are skyrocketing with 4665 hours “lost” in the Darling Downs Health region last year alone.
According to the LNP, this translates to nearly 13 hours of ambulance time – and one crew off the road – every day in the health region, which includes all South Burnett hospitals.
Opposition Leader David Crisafulli said the statistics were grim reading for Queenslanders who should be able to rely on the health system.
“Queenslanders just want an ambulance to turn up when they call Triple Zero,” Mr Crisafulli said.
“Paramedics didn’t sign up for a career to sit in the back of an ambulance for an entire shift. Paramedics want to be on the road assisting Queenslanders in their hour of need, not double-parked at a hospital.”
The statistics supplied by the LNP reveal that in the Darling Downs Health region, there were 4665 hours “lost” by ambulance ramping in 2022, up 48 per cent from 2021.
