Nationals Leader and Member for Maranoa David Littleproud has welcomed the appointment of Senator Jacinta Nampijinpa Price as Shadow Minister for Indigenous Australians.
Senator Price is a member of the Country Liberal Party of the Northern Territory (CLP) but sits with The Nationals in Canberra.
Opposition Leader Peter Dutton announced Senator Price’s promotion to Shadow Cabinet on Tuesday morning.
Senator Price has been an outspoken opponent to the Federal Government’s “Voice” referendum.
She replaces former Shadow Attorney-General and spokesman for Indigenous Australians Julian Leeser who resigned from Shadow Cabinet last week so he could campaign in favour of the “Voice”.
Mr Littleproud described Senator Price as “a champion of Indigenous causes and a fierce advocate for improving the lives of Indigenous communities and families, particularly women and children”.
He said the Nationals now filled seven roles in Shadow Cabinet and 12 across the broader Shadow Ministry.
