Kingaroy businessman Richard Mason is angry his $15,000 advertising trailer was stolen from beside the D’Aguilar Highway on Sunday night, and despite the alleged thieves being spotted several times since, the trailer has not yet been found.
The trailer, with the sign collapsed, was caught on video on Monday in Goomeri being pulled by a distinctive, white Nissan Patrol trayback heading northwards.
Richard believes the same vehicle was in his Kingaroy Car Wash on Sunday night, just before his trailer went missing from between Kingaroy and Nanango.
He has given Kingaroy Police a copy of the video showing this vehicle, the driver and passenger.
On Friday morning, the distinctive Nissan – this time without the trailer – was spotted by a friend of Richard’s in Haly Street, Kingaroy.
The friend began trailing the vehicle and contacted Richard who phoned the police.
A police vehicle followed the Nissan to Edenvale South Road where it sped up on the dirt road.
Officer-in-charge of Kingaroy CIB, Senior Sergeant Scott Prendergast, confirmed that when the vehicle failed to stop, the pursuit was terminated in line with Queensland Police Service protocol and for reasons of public safety.
Richard is concerned the thieves could be looking to steal more items from around the Kingaroy region, as the last time the Nissan was seen it had ramps and a tarpaulin on the tray.
He urged local residents to be wary and keep an eye out for the vehicle.
Anyone with information about the stolen trailer or the white Nissan Patrol trayback ute has been urged to contact Kingaroy Police on (07) 4160-4900 or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1800-333-000.
UPDATE: Kingaroy Police have recovered the stolen trailer, A-frame and sign.
