Looking for lots of good fun that is funny? Then Seussical (the musical) is for you …
The latest production by the South Burnett Musical Comedy will hit the stage at the Kingaroy Performing Arts Centre on March 18.
The colourful production features Dr Seuss’ most famous creations, including The Grinch, The Whos and Things 1 and 2.
The 45 performers in the cast have been practising hard every week since early January to bring the wacky story, narrated by Cat In The Hat (Jarvis Cox), to life.
It is being directed by Craig Reiger, with Sue Dowideit-Reiger as choreographer and Julee-Anne Bell as musical director.
Sue is doubling in the cast as Amazing Mayzie and Julee-Anne as the Sour Kangaroo.
The young stars include Jordan Chapman as Horton the Elephant and Zoe Basham as Gertrude McFuzz.
Craig said Suessical may not have been a big hit on Broadway but it was the most successful community musical ever produced.
The Kingaroy stage will be filled with teenagers and young children, with another 10 people working hard backstage.
And, of course, there is the music …
“The score is lively to match the characters,” Craig said.
The students come from multiple local schools … a quick check by southburnett.com.au at the dress rehearsal on Sunday afternoon found youngsters from Kingaroy and Nanango State High Schools; Kingaroy, Nanango and Taabinga State Schools; St John’s Lutheran School and St Mary’s Catholic College.
