Police have charged a 44-year-old man with 13 offences after he allegedly threatened an older man with a knife, rear-ended his utility and rammed two police cars.
The incidents allegedly unfolded at Pie Creek, south-west of Gympie, on Monday.
Police will allege about 8:45am, a 66-year-old Sunshine Coast man was at a property in Daniel Drive when he was approached by the 44-year-old Pie Creek man known to him.
It will be alleged the younger man seriously assaulted the older man while armed with a knife.
The 66-year-old managed to get into his utility and drive off.
He headed to Eel Creek Road where he pulled over and called for help.
However, a short time later, the 44-year-old man allegedly drove his car into the rear of the parked utility, before switching vehicles and leaving the scene.
The 66-year-old man was taken to Gympie Hospital for treatment to non-life-threatening injuries.
About 9:45am, police went to the Daniel Drive address to speak to the 44-year-old, but the man fled the scene, allegedly striking two police vehicles as he drove off in the ute.
Police later found the vehicle abandoned at Cooroy.
The man was taken into custody at a nearby address about 12:45pm.
The Pie Creek man has been charged with 13 offences: serious assault of a person aged over 60, assault occasioning bodily harm, wounding, armed robbery, wilful damage, three counts of dangerous operation of a vehicle, three counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and two counts of wilful damage of police property.
He was expected to appear in Gympie Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
