Federal MPs are seeking Expressions of Interest from local councils and community groups to receive a share of $150,000 funding under Round 8 of the Federal Government’s Stronger Communities Program.
“Round 8 is focussed on supporting communities to recover from the widespread impacts of adverse weather events and current economic pressures,” Member for Maranoa David Littleproud said.
“Funding is available for small capital projects which encourage community participation and contribute to our vibrant communities – this could include upgrading the local community hall, installing seating, goal posts or lights at a sporting field, building playgrounds or community gardens, or purchasing essential equipment for emergency services.”
Grants from $2500 up to $20,000 are available to cover up to 100 per cent of eligible project costs, or up to 50 per cent of costs for councils.
Up to $150,000 funding is available per electorate.
A local committee will assess the EOIs, which should be submitted by March 10, and then invited applicants will proceed to the formal application stage which must be completed and lodged by April 26.
Interested South Burnett groups should contact their local Federal MP – David Littleproud (Maranoa), Colin Boyce (Flynn) or Llew O’Brien (Wide Bay) – for more information.
