Former Mondure farmer Wayne Robert Green, 53, has been committed to stand trial on 14 charges relating to alleged incidents involving backpackers who had been recruited to work on his property.
The charges related to separate incidents which allegedly occurred between 2013 and 2018.
Green has not entered a plea.
He will face trial in the District Court in Kingaroy on:
- Five counts of making observations or recordings in breach of privacy,
- Three counts of procuring prostitution,
- Five counts of sexual assault; and
- One count of deprivation of liberty (unlawfully detain / confine).
The committal hearing was held in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on Monday afternoon, before Magistrate Andrew Sinclair.
Some of the evidence was presented to the court by international witnesses via videolink.
The District Court trial will be heard on a date to be fixed.
The hearing of summary charges of possessing dangerous drugs, weapons storage and possessing explosives (ammunition) was adjourned to a date to be fixed in Murgon Magistrates Court.
In September 2022, Green appeared in the District Court on another 25 counts:
- Seven counts of making observations or recordings in breach of privacy,
- Four counts of procuring prostitution,
- Eleven counts of sexual assault,
- One count of deprivation of liberty (unlawfully detain / confine)
- One count of procuring a sexual act by false pretence; and
- One count of rape.
The hearing of these charges was also adjourned to a date to be fixed.
