South Burnett motorists should be aware there will soon be more drug-testing police units out and about on local roads.

About a dozen police officers from the South Burnett Patrol Group have recently undergone training on how to use roadside drug-testing kits.

Acting officer-in-charge of Kingaroy Police, Acting Senior Sergeant Luke Jackson, said two of these officers are based at the Kingaroy station.

They will join the two officers from the Road Policing Unit (Kingaroy) who already patrol South Burnett roads.

Acting Senior Sergeant Jackson said there had been a significant decrease in property crime in the Kingaroy region over the past month.

This followed an increase in disruption and prevention activities by local police officers which targeted possible juvenile offenders.

The extra police hours spent focusing on crime prevention activities had led to reduced juvenile enforcement overall.
