Staff and students at Kingaroy State High School were safely evacuated to the school oval on Wednesday morning after reports of a possible fire at the complex.

Three fire crews and a senior officer were called to the school after reports of a strong smell of electrical burning.

However, the firefighters could find no sign of fire.

A QFES spokesperson said a contractor had been working at the site at the time.

After the all-clear was given, all students returned to their classes.

QAS paramedics, police and Ergon crews also attended the incident as a precaution.

On Tuesday afternoon, fire crews were called at 1:19pm to a large grass fire burning on Aerodrome Road at Taabinga.

Firefighters managed to stop the flames from spreading into nearby bushland.

Fire crews were also in action for several hours on Tuesday afternoon and evening tackling a vegetation fire burning near Fisher Street in Cherbourg.
