December 2, 2022
It was an honour to join the Murgon RSL Sub-Branch and the community recently for their Remembrance Day Dinner.
It is always a privilege for Jason and I to be a part of these special occasions.
President Kevin Gill and Secretary Liz Williamson organised a wonderful evening, with guest speaker Mr Heston Russell sharing stories on his military service.
Then on Remembrance Day itself, I headed to Blackbutt for their Commemorative Service, and also helped officially open their new air conditioning project in Blackbutt’s RSL.
Well done to President Wally Jacobson and the hard-working committee for seeing this planned improvement through to fruition, and getting it done just in time for the warmer weather.

Rockin Our Abilities
Rockin Our Abilities is a not-for-profit music and drama program for people with disabilities in the South Burnett that operates in Murgon.
I had the pleasure of joining them for a practice session recently and it was a tonne of fun.
On Thursday, December 15 they will hold their end of year concert and I am proud to have assisted the group with a small grant towards their costs.
I would encourage everyone to get along and support this event!

A Busy Time Of Year For Schools
The 2022 school year is just a few weeks away from finishing and there’s lots happening around the Electorate.
In the past few weeks I’ve headed to Kilkivan, Taabinga and Moffatdale State Schools and St John’s Lutheran College in Kingaroy.
May I congratulate all our students, teachers and families on their achievements this year, and I hope everyone enjoys the upcoming school holidays!

Melbourne Cup In Kumbia
The rain may have stopped the horses this year, but nothing could dampen the spirits of racegoers at Kumbia Race Club’s annual Melbourne Cup Day.
I must congratulate the club’s hard working volunteers for putting on a fantastic day – despite the weather – and also convey a big “thank you!” to the people who travelled from all over Queensland to make this event a success.
It’s always so much fun and it was great to help out on the BBQ as I usually do on Cup Day.

Wooroolin Time Capsule Opening
The Wooroolin community may have had to wait 50 years but it was worth it!
On November 12 crowds gathered from far and wide for the official opening of the Wooroolin time capsule.
The original celebrations in 1972 when the capsule was interred had honoured the 50th anniversary of the Wooroolin Hall, the 70th anniversary of Wooroolin School and the 25th anniversary of the Wooroolin CWA.
50 years later, the Wooroolin Community Committee was on hand to retrieve the capsule and its contents were put on display in the Hall for all to see and reminisce.
Well done, Wooroolin, on a great event!
