The annual Cream of The Crop Droughtmaster Female Sale held at Coolabunia Saleyards on Saturday has been hailed a tremendous success by happy vendors.

The sale attracted several record-breaking prices.

Auction attendees came from the local area but a number of bidders travelled from far afield in search of quality stock.

There was also a strong contingent taking part online through Elite Livestock Auctions.

In all, 108 top quality females were offered for sale, achieving a 95 per cent clearance rate and an average sale price of $6345.

Some highlights of this year’s auction included:

  • Eight cows and calves which sold for an average of $9563
  • 4 PTIC females to average $7000
  • 96 unjoined females were sold, with 91 of them averaging $6033

The day’s top selling heifer – Seymour Newday, a purebred 15-month-old – was offered by Seymour Droughtmasters and sold online for $26,000 to Troy Mitchell of Emerald Peaks, NSW.

“We offered 30 heifers more than last year, and with higher averages as well as a new record-breaking price we really can’t complain,” Graham Brown from RSVP and Sylvan Springs Droughtmasters said.

“The vendors presented a really good line of cattle, probably one of the best drafts we’ve had.”

The sale was conducted by Aussie Land & Livestock in Kingaroy and GDL Stud stock in Dalby.
