Weaners continued to command strong prices at Murgon’s fortnightly cattle sale on Tuesday.
Agents yarded 850 head for the sale, where the market for heavier cattle eased slightly.
Stock were drawn from Mt Perry, Mundubbera, Gayndah, Binjour, Kingaroy, Nanango, Yarraman, Kilkivan and the Murgon district.
Sale results:
- Heavy Bulls sold to $3.58/kg and $3070
- Cows over 500kg sold to $3.58/kg and $2270, averaging $3.49/kg
- Cows 400-500kg topped at $3.41/kg for $1660
- Cows under 400kg sold to $3.20/kg
- Export heifers sold to $3.75/kg and $2130
- 4 & 6 tooth Santa steers from Manumbar sold to $4.20/kg at $2370
- 490kg Charbray steers from Manyung sold for $4.56/kg, returning $2235
- Droughtmaster steers ex Moffatdale also sold for $4.56/kg and $2080
- 338kg Santa steers sold for $1890 at $5.58/kg
- 368kg Droughtmaster steers from Gayndah sold for $1950 at $5.30/kg
- A draft of 268kg Charbray weaner steers from Mt Perry sold for an average of $6.98/kg and $1840
- Speckle Park weaner steers from Goomeri sold for $6.92/kg to return $1470
- 400kg Brahman cross heifers sold to $4.22/kg, returning $1700
- Brangus heifers sold for $1625 at $4.30/kg
- 283kg heifers sold for $5.52/kg, returning $1560
- Brahman cross weaner heifers from Manumbar sold for $1260 at $5.52/kg
- Droughtmaster cross weaner heifers from Sandy Ridges sold for $5.50/kg, returning $1380
- Santa weaner heifers from Crownthorpe also sold for $5.50/kg and $1340
- Local Simmental cross weaner heifers sold to $5.22/kg and $1020
- Light Droughtmaster cross heifers from Ballogie sold for $5.94/kg and $890
- PTIC Droughtmaster cross Cows sold to $1900
- A small number of Cows & Calves were yarded, selling to $2550
