A charge against Swickers Kingaroy Bacon Factory Pty Ltd alleging a breach of workplace health and safety legislation will be dealt with in the New Year.
The company faces one charge of failing to comply with health and safety duty (Category 2).
Kingaroy Magistrates Court was told on Thursday a judgment could be delivered after a one to two hour hearing, during which a plea would be entered.
Magistrate Andrew Sinclair adjourned the matter to January 9.
In August, a spokesperson from the Office of the Work Health and Safety Prosecutor (OWHSP) told southburnett.com.au the filed complaint and summons alleged the defendant company, in 2021, failed to manage the risk posed to workers by the use of an acidic cleaning product at its abattoir.
The OWHSP is an independent prosecution office, established by State Parliament, to conduct proceedings for breaches of Queensland’s workplace health and safety, resources safety and health laws.
