Firefighters could do little to save a highset house in Goomeri which became engulfed in flames in the early hours of Tuesday.
Four crews were called to the incident in Hodge Street at 4:20am but the building was well alight when they arrived.
A man, aged in his 70s, managed to escape before firefighters arrived but suffered minor burns to his legs.
QAS paramedics treated him at the scene before transporting him by ambulance to Murgon Hospital in a stable condition.
No one else was injured.
Police and Ergon crews also attended the incident.
A QFES spokesperson said the fire was extinguished by 5:20am, with crews then working to dampen down any hotspots.
Police and QFES fire investigators were at the scene on Tuesday morning.
A police spokesperson said the fire was being treated as suspicious and urged any witnesses to contact Policelink on 13-1444.
