Agents yarded 570 head at Murgon Saleyards on Tuesday for the fortnightly Fat And Store Sale.

All descriptions sold to dearer rates, especially a top end line of weaners.

A major export buyer attended Tuesday’s sale, which helped push export prices up.

Sale results:

  • Bulls made up to $3.56/kg
  • Heavy cows sold to $3.38/kg
  • There were too few store cows to quote, but most sold to $3.00/kg
  • A good pen of 400kg Santa Gertrudis feeder steers sold to $5.10/kg
  • Angus weaner steers ex-Mundubbera sold up to $6.60/kg
  • Most other weaners sold between $5.80 to $6.50/kg, depending on quality
  • 350kg Angus heifers ex-Proston sold for $5.50/kg
  • Most weaner heifers made up to $5.76/kg
  • Heifers sold between $5.00 to $5.50/kg, again depending on quality
  • A handful of cows and calves sold to $2700
  • PTIC cows sold for $1775
