South Burnett Regional Council is encouraging property owners not to “self-assess” their eligibility for disaster assistance.
A Council spokesperson said various grants and assistance programs had been established in response to the local disasters which have occurred in the region over the past nine months.
“Council is encouraging all impacted property owners to follow up with funding agencies to confirm eligibility and finalise their initial grant applications which are only available for limited times,” the spokesperson said.
Mayor Brett Otto urged people to act now to avoid missing out on potential help.
“It is important people do not self-assess and assume they are not eligible for funding,” he said.
The first of the three Special Disaster Assistance Recovery Grants will close on September 30.
