The Festival of the Dams fishing competition, sponsored by the South Burnett Regional Council, has been postponed again.
The event was to be held on August 13-14 at Boondooma Dam and September 10-11 at Bjelke-Petersen Dam.
But due to the latest rain and inflows still coming into the dams, organisers have made the difficult decision to postpone the competitions again.
On Friday, Bjelke-Petersen Dam was at 101.77 per cent capacity; and Boondooma Dam at 100.72 per cent.
Fishing at both dams is extremely challenging at present due to the unsettled water conditions.
New dates for the festival will be advised.
“The festival is definitely not cancelled, just postponed,” Fishing Freshwater spokesperson Matthew Mott said.
“We are waiting for Mother Nature to do her thing and then the Festival will be back bigger and better than ever.
“We want thousands of people to come to the South Burnett and have a great time and catch a lot of fish – the timing just has to be right.”
