Work was due to begin on Monday on upgrades to Les Muller Park in Blackbutt.
South Burnett Regional Council plans to provide new shelters and picnic tables in the park, upgrade the soft fall and fencing in the playground and improve the landscaping.
New concrete footpaths will also be built.
The project has been funded by Federal Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program and Council’s capital works budget.
A Council spokesperson said that to maintain public safety, the work zone within the park would be fenced off however access to the public toilets would be maintained.
Work will occur on weekdays between 6:30am–5:00pm and on Saturdays between 7:00am-5:00pm.
The project is expected to be completed by October.
