Police are investigating a string of thefts – including two vehicles – which have occurred across the region in the past week.

The first vehicle was stolen from Murgon and located a few days later at Glan Devon.

A Murgon police spokesperson said that between 7:00pm on June 5 and 5:45am on June 6, thieves stole a spare set of ignition keys from a work bag at a Cobb Street address.

They then drove off in the victim’s vehicle.

The second vehicle was stolen between 8:30pm on June 9 and 5:30am on June 10 from Burns Road at Wondai.

The thieves gained entry to the residence through a rear sliding door to steal the vehicle keys.

The vehicle was later located in Darra.

Between 7:00pm on June 5 and 3:30pm on June 6, thieves forced opened the front door of a house in Paul Holznagel Road at Barlil.

They stole a television and sound bar from the lounge room, and moved a pushbike from the main bedroom to outside the house.

Between 9:00am and 11:40am on June 9, a resident returning to their home in Hill Street, Tingoora, found the back door had been kicked in and the lock smashed.

The resident then spotted a boy standing in the living room near the front door. The victim confronted the boy who then ran off down the hill.

Wilful Damage

Police after investigating an incident on Sunday afternoon which left a Murgon business with some expensive repairs.

About 2:15pm, four youths attended the Lamb Street business.

While there, one kicked a hole in a fibro wall of the adjacent building. Another then kicked a hole in the wall next to the first one.

The group has then walked out and on the way, kicked a timber slat that ran from the floor to the ground. They then kicked and snapped another nine timber slats.

Traffic

  • A driver has been fined $643 – and lost six points – after police pulled over a vehicle allegedly doing 136km/h in a 100km/h zone at 3:53pm on June 8 on Chinchilla-Wondai Road at Cushnie.
  • A 36-year-old Wondai man will appear in Murgon Magistrates Court on July 5 charged with unlicensed driving (repeat offender) after police stopped a vehicle about midnight on June 10 on Greenview Road, Wondai. The vehicle’s plates were also confiscated for 90 days.
  • A 48-year-old Bundamba man will appear in Murgon Magistrates Court on August 19 charged with drug-driving after police stopped a vehicle on the Bunya Highway in Murgon at 10:52am on June 6.
  • A 49-year-old Cherbourg woman was issued with two tickets after police intercepted a vehicle on Lamb Street, Murgon, about 11:50am on June 6. Police allege the vehicle was unregistered and uninsured.
