May 11, 2022

Local cricket hero Holly Ferling has quit the Queensland Fire to take up a contract with the ACT Meteors in the Women’s National Cricket League.

Ferling, 26, made her debut with the Fire as a teenager and has played almost 90 games for Queensland, as well as representing Australia in Test, T20 and One Day International matches.

She was also an inaugural signing by the Brisbane Heat in the WBBL and has played 32 matches for the club.

Ferling announced this week that she had accepted a two-year deal to join the Meteors.

The move follows her being named the Fire’s “Player’s Player” at the recent Queensland Cricket Awards.

Queensland Cricket CEO Terry Svenson wished Ferling every success.

“Obviously we are saddened to see her move from Queensland but certainly wish her the best for the future,” he said.

“Holly has been an exemplary player for Queensland and her profile and accessibility has inspired a generation of young girls to experience and enjoy the game.”
