A 54-year-old Wondai woman was lucky to escape serious injuries when her windscreen was smashed in an incident on the Bunya Highway at Wooroolin on Wednesday morning.

The woman was driving a Holden along the highway behind a Ford ute towing a trailer when the trailer’s tailgate came off and smashed into her vehicle.

She was treated at the scene for glass cuts.

The 64-year-old Tingoora man driving the ute was not injured.

Investigations are continuing.

Kingaroy police have charged two people with drug-driving offences:

  • A  29-year-old Inverlaw man will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on May 26 after his Kia hatchback was stopped on Albert Street, Kingaroy.
  • A 19-year-old Mothar Mountain woman will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on June 9 after her Holden sedan was pulled over on the D’Aguilar Highway at Coolabunia.

A young boy is recovering in hospital after he was bitten by a dog at Widgee on Sunday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the incident just before 2:00pm.

QAS paramedics treated the four-year-old at the scene before he was airlifted by an RACQ LifeFlight helicopter in a stable condition with lacerations to his hand, head and face.

He later underwent surgery at the Queensland Children’s Hospital in Brisbane.

A GoFundMe page has been set up by a relative to assist the family.

The discovery of a man’s body in Kingaroy on Monday is not being treated as suspicious.

Police will prepare a report for the Coroner.
