The death toll from COVID-19 in the Darling Downs Health region has risen to 27, with two more fatalities reported by Queensland Health on Wednesday.
Six of these deaths have been recorded so far this month.
Across Queensland, the death toll now stands at 808 since the pandemic began, with another six deaths announced on Wednesday.
All but seven of these deaths have occurred since the borders were reopened on December 13 and 68 have occurred since April 1.
The statistics also show a total of 1041 people have officially contracted COVID-19 in the South Burnett Regional Council area since March 2020, including 69 cases since April 1.
When the borders reopened on December 13 there had been a total of just three confirmed cases in the South Burnett and 68 in the Darling Downs Health region, including two deaths.
Cherbourg Council reported on Wednesday there were 23 new cases in Cherbourg after recent testing.
There are officially 43,377 active COVID-19 cases in Queensland at the moment, including 8995 confirmed during the latest reporting period.
However, the true level of infection is likely to be higher, with not all people registering a positive Rapid Antigen Test reporting their condition to Queensland Health, and people with mild symptoms not getting tested.
A total of 595 people were being treated for COVID-19 in Queensland hospitals, including 25 in intensive care units.

* On April 13, Cherbourg Council warned that a COVID positive case had attended the Wakka Wakka Determination event in Cherbourg on April 12 and advised anyone with symptoms to immediately get tested. On April 20, Council reported 23 active cases in the community.
NB. Data is reported by Queensland Health daily but can vary over time due to case reviews. When we took the first snapshots, Cherbourg LGA had not been added to the list by Qld Health as no cases had been recorded there. From December 31, data is current to 7:00pm the previous day. Numbers for all regions must also be considered underestimated. Not everyone who has tested positive using a Rapid Antigen Test has reported their result to Queensland Health. Not everyone who has had a mild dose of the disease has been tested. Also, the official statistics show 470,990 positive results (as at April 19) which have not been allocated to a Local Government Area since the pandemic began.
