BlazeAid’s Murgon camp has received another boost in funds, this time from the flood recovery fundraising breakfast organised by the South Burnett Regional Council in Murgon last Thursday morning.

The breakfast was one of a series which are being held throughout the region.

Council CEO Mark Pitt, who officiated at the barbecue in QEII Park, thanked Bendigo Bank for a $10,000 donation.

“As BlazeAid says, when farmers suffer, so does all the community around them. It is wonderful to see local businesses make such generous contributions,” Mr Pitt said.

Other contributions included:

  • Alicia’s Spa & Hair Worx and Crow’s Barbershop donated their discounted haircut earnings back to BlazeAid
  • Dr Graham McAllister and his wife Sue, from the Murgon Family Medical Practice, donated $1000
  • A corrugated iron puppy, donated by Crinkle Creek Garden Art, was auctioned. Jason and Amy Wicks were the successful bidders, with $600.

“Add to these the voluntary work of staff from the Council and the generosity of members of the public and local Councillors, and we have a very successful outcome from the
breakfast,” Mr Pitt said.

Upcoming breakfasts will be from 7:00am to 9:00am at:

  • Nanango – Reg McCallum Park – Thursday, April 21
  • Wondai – Coronation Park – Thursday, April 28

A sausage or bacon and egg burger will cost $5, with a gold coin donation for tea, coffee or juice.
