Police are investigating the theft of two vehicles – and the attempted theft of a third – while the residents were at home asleep in Oasis Drive, Kingaroy, on Friday night.
Officer-in-charge of Kingaroy Police, Senior Sergeant Dave Tierney, said the thieves entered the house through an open door and took three sets of car keys from the kitchen.
They then drove out two vehicles from the garage.
The residents were awoken when the third vehicle stalled and hit a workbench.
The thieves then drove off in the first two vehicles, Mazda and Toyota sedans.
The Mazda was found abandoned on Haly Street a short time later.
The Toyota was located two hours later in an undriveable state at Crawford.

Four people will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on May 5 charged with drug offences after police searched a residence in William Street, Kingaroy, on April 6.
Police allegedly located a small quantity of cannabis and numerous drug utensils.
A 40-year-old Kingaroy woman has been charged with three counts of supplying a dangerous drug as well as possessing drugs and drug utensils.
A 38-year-old Kingaroy man, a 44-year-old Durong man and a 41-year-old Kingaroy woman have been charged with possessing drugs and drug utensils.

A 32-year-old Gympie woman will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on May 5 charged with failing to dispose of a syringe and possessing property used in the commission of a drug offence after a police search in Alford Street, Kingaroy, at 5:15pm on April 7.
Police allegedly located a used syringe and a small clip seal bag in her handbag.

Police are investigating the weekend break and enter of a church in Haly Street, Kingaroy.
It is unknown how entry was gained but offenders have searched through cupboards leaving all the doors open.
It unknown if any property was taken. Investigations are continuing
