A learner motorcycle rider has been fined $1726 – and lost 14 demerit points – after he was allegedly clocked by Goomeri police doing 165km/h on the Burnett Highway at Barambah.
Police pulled over the 37-year-old Buderim man on March 26.
The rider was fined $1286 (eight demerit points) for speeding, $220 (two points) for failing to display legible L plates and $220 (four points) for not riding under the direction of an authorised supervisor.
He has also lost his licence for six months and the motorcycle’s number plates were confiscated for seven days.
Senior Constable Darren Hewitt said safety on our roads was up to all road users “whether they are driving a car, riding a motorcycle or pushbike or are a pedestrian”.
“A safer ride starts with you. Speeding has a direct consequence on your life and those around you,” he said.
“Expect police anywhere, anytime.”
