A Hereford steer, auctioned on Tuesday at the Murgon Saleyards, has raised almost $2240 for the Murgon BlazeAid camp.
The steer was donated by local councillor Kathy Duff from her herd at ‘Di Di’ station.
Pratt Agencies put the beast under the hammer and also waived their yard fees to help the cause.
Cr Duff said Mitch Upton, from Teys Australia, paid $2238.16 for the steer, which weighed in at 505kg.
The money will be converted into Murgon Gift Cards – which can only be spent in the Murgon area – and handed over to BlazeAid camp co-ordinator Ron “Spud” Murphy.
The BlazeAid volunteers have been working hard in the Booubyjan and Tansey area for weeks now, clearing and repairing fences – some multiple times – damaged in recent floods.
They expect to be in the region for several more months.
