Kilkivan police have booked 16 drivers for speeding during the past four weeks.
Four drivers were exceeding the speed limit on the Wide Bay Highway by more than 20km/h which incurs a fine of $459 and a loss of four demerit points:
- A 55-year-old Victorian man doing 130km/h
- A 29-year-old Noosa Heads man doing 128km/h
- A 63-year-old Bowenville man doing 121km/h, and
- A 47-year-old Kilkivan woman doing 121km/h
Eleven drivers were exceeding the speed limit by at least 13km/h but not more than 20km/h, which incurs a fine of $275 and a loss of three demerit points.
One motorist was booked for exceeding the speed limit in speed zone by less than 13km/h, which incurs a $183 fine and loss of one demerit point.
As well, Kilkivan police spotted three drivers disobeying “No Entry” signs on the Wide Bay Highway at Lower Wonga while flooding was occurring in the region.
A 59-year-old Sexton man, a 21-year-old Maleny man and a 76-year-old Kilkivan man were each issued tickets ($192 fine and three demerit points).
