The Federal Government is inviting groups to apply for up to $20,000 as part of a $15.1 million tree-planting program to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
Grants from $2500 to $20,000 will be available to community groups and not-for-profit organisations, with each Federal Electorate eligible to receive up to $100,000 for up to 10 projects.
Projects that are suitable must include formal commemorative events in 2022 to mark the Jubilee, plantings of regionally appropriate tree species, and installation of commemorative signs or plaques.
The Planting Trees for The Queen’s Jubilee Program is one of a range of national and community events planned by the Federal Government to celebrate The Queen’s Jubilee year.
The Queen ascended the throne on February 6, 1952, upon the death of King George VI, and the Jubilee celebrates her 70th year on the throne.
Groups interested in taking part in the tree-planting program must first approach their local Federal MP.
The three Federal electorates that cross the South Burnett are Maranoa (David Littleproud), Flynn (Ken O’Dowd) and Wide Bay (Llew O’Brien).
The projects will be assessed locally and successful organisations will then be invited to lodge a formal application.
