A 16-year-old Cherbourg teenager has been charged with a string of offences after alleged incidents in Kingaroy, Wondai, Murgon, Goomeri and Kilkivan between February 6 and 10.
Police will allege the boy was involved in the following:
- About 10:30pm on February 6, a residence in Lister Court, Kingaroy, was broken into by cutting a security screen. Vehicle keys, a wallet, jewellery, sunglasses and an iPod were stolen. A Mazda 3 (registration 626-YOJ) was driven from the garage. The car is still missing.
- About 5:00pm on February 9, a business in Bligh Street, Kilkivan, was broken into by smashing a front glass door. Nothing was taken.
- About 8:30pm the same day, two sets of car keys and two vehicles were taken from an house in Hodge Street, Goomeri. Both vehicles have since been recovered by police.
- About 10:00pm, a business on the Bunya Highway, Kingaroy, was broken into and alcohol stolen.
- About 10:50pm, a woman in Parkside Street, Kingaroy, was walking towards the front door of her home when she was allegedly assaulted and her handbag taken. Her vehicle was also stolen.
- About 1:15am the next morning, an axe was used to smash the front sliding door of the kiosk at Yallakool Tourist Park at Bjelke-Petersen Dam. The kiosk was ransacked and a cash register, food and confectionery were stolen.
- Almost three hours later, a quantity of fuel was taken from the BP Service Station on the Bunya Highway at Murgon; a short time later a second vehicle was also used in a fuel drive-off from the same service station.
- About 5:00am, a business in Mackenzie Street, Wondai, was broken into via the rear door. The premises were ransacked and money stolen.
The youth has been charged with three counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, three counts of enter premises and commit an indictable offence, burglary, attempted enter premises with intent to commit an indictable offence, stealing and robbery.
He was released on bail with strict conditions to appear at the Murgon Children’s Court at a later date.
