RSPCA inspectors responded to 16,331 animal welfare complaints in Queensland in 2021, down 744 on the previous year.
An RSPCA spokesperson said the top types of complaints received were about animals in poor condition, poor living conditions, animals being tethered, animal cruelty, animals without veterinary treatment, abandoned animals, animals without shelter and heat stress.
The RSPCA released a map on Friday which shows that 1613 suburbs or localities in Queensland had at least one animal welfare complaint reported.
In the South Burnett area, the map shows the most complaints were lodged about animals in Yarraman (7), Cooyar (2) and Mondure (2).
Other towns and localities to record one complaint were Blackbutt South, South-East Nanango, Taabinga, Tingoora, Ficks Crossing, Tansey, Wooroonden and Stalworth.
The most complaints in Queensland were lodged on behalf of animals in Caboolture (193), up 8 per cent over the previous 12 months.
