Murgon police have alerted residents that school speed zones will be enforced from Monday (January 24) despite the official delay to the start of the school term.
While the return to school may have been postponed for some students, vulnerable children and children of essential workers will still be attending school.
Police have urged community members to be vigilant and drive safely near schools.
“Some of our youngest road users are children on their way to school, making them also some of the most vulnerable,” a police spokesperson said.
“We all want our children to arrive safely at school and then safely home at the end of the day – so slow down in school zones.
“When in active school zones, stay under 40 km/h and pay attention to the road as circumstances can change quickly.”
