Kingaroy professional angler Matthew Langford has won a prestigious national title in the highly competitive sport of bass fishing.
For the second year in a row, Langford has been named “Bass Angler of the Year”.
“A thousand words can’t explain how proud I am to be awarded the title,” he said.
The national competition, run by ABT Tournaments, was held on the Richmond River in NSW last weekend.
The event attracted the best Bass anglers from around the country.
Matthew was awarded the trophy for being the most consistent Bass angler in Australia.
“I had a shot at the win in the Grand Final, too, but it wasn’t to be this time, just pipped at the post to come second by 90 grams,” he said.
“But (it was) unreal to put myself in the position to take both.
“To win Angler of the Year twice in ABT and once in Bass Nation is beyond what I thought I could ever achieve.
“It’s so true that if the people around you believe in you and you believe in yourself and your ability you can do anything.”
