Three teenagers were taken to hospital after a collision at the intersection of the Wide Bay and Bruce highways early on Saturday morning.

Emergency services were called to incident just before 1:00am.

A teenage boy and teenage girl suffered head injuries while a second teenage boy had minor injuries.

All three were transported to Gympie Hospital  in a stable condition.

The notorious intersection has been the site of multiple crashes over recent years but a multi-million dollar roundabout has been built at the location to lower the risk.

A man has been airlifted by the Land Rover LifeFlight Special Mission helicopter after a gas smoker reportedly exploded while he was lighting it, west of Gympie, on Saturday morning.

The incident is believed to have occurred on a private property in the Glastonbury region.

The man suffered burns to his arms and upper body.

The Sunshine Coast-based aircraft was sent to the scene just before 8:30am.

The aeromedical crew worked with QAS paramedics at the scene to treat the man, aged in his 50s.

He was then airlifted to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a stable condition.
