It’s business as usual at Huston Motors in Kingaroy despite a recent change in ownership.
One of Queensland’s largest privately owned motor dealerships, Sunco Motor Group, acquired Huston Motors on October 1.
Sunco Motors has committed to continuing the dealership’s strong focus on being a family-friendly business.
Director Ray Jones has owned and operated vehicle dealerships on the Sunshine Coast for more than 28 years.
The Sunco Motors dealership network currently spans 12 major sites covering many market-leading automotive franchises including a number of leading brands in Kingaroy: Ford, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Hyundai, Great Wall, Haval, General Motors Special Vehicles, Corvette, Chevrolet, Toro Mowers, Polaris AG, AC Delco Service Centre and a Holden Service Outlet.
Other locations offer Isuzu Ute, Honda, Kia, Jeep, LDV, MG, Mahindra, Audi and Volvo plus TJM Maroochydore.
Buyers have access to more than 250 used cars which are all available online and can be maintained through the group’s fully equipped service divisions.
Ray said the purchase of Huston Motors from Mark and Margaret Huston was an exciting step forward for the business.
“We’re always looking at opportunities to grow our business within regional Queensland and the strong Huston brand, built over the past 86 years, really appealed to us,” he said.
“It’s a third-generation, family-owned business and we want to continue that legacy.
“We are thrilled to secure this new business as the Huston reputation is second-to-none in Kingaroy.
“The culture aligns to how we operate so I believe this will ensure our transition will be seamless.
“Operationally the business performs very well and we are pleased to have inherited some incredibly talented and loyal staff so there will be no major changes to the business.”
Ray said people, culture and a commitment to the community were what had made Sunco such a successful business for more than 28 years.
“We base our business on family values and employ around 250 staff, a great number of which are long-term employees who have been with us for the long haul. I think that’s a reflection on how we treat people and the culture we have created over a quarter of a century,” he said.
“The biggest change will be an expansion of the dealership umbrella with Sunco recently acquiring Great Wall, Haval, Polaris AG and Toro Mowers range which will be located in a new showroom to be built at Rogers Drive.
A fully equipped Sun Tint window tint department will also be built at the same location with construction due to start late January.”
