When the COVID vaccination information is successfully linked, a small green tick will appear beside the name on the Check In Qld app

The State Government says more than one million Queenslanders have now linked their COVID-19 digital certificate to the Check In Qld app so they can live life to the fullest from December 17.

Digital Economy Minister Leeanne Enoch said linking your COVID-19 digital certificate to the Check in Qld app was the easiest way to get ready for the changes to restrictions that are coming in a couple of weeks.

“From Friday, December 17, all Queenslanders and visitors will need to provide proof of their COVID-19 vaccination status as a condition of entry to many businesses and locations,” Ms Enoch said.

“We’ve updated the Check In Qld app so that you can link your COVID-19 digital certificate from the My Gov website or Medicare Express app.

“This means you can check in and show your proof of vaccination status simultaneously when visiting businesses and locations across the State – making it quicker and easier for patrons and for businesses.”

People can link their certificate to the app via the Medicare Express Plus app or via the Medicare portal on the myGov website, with instructions included in the app on how to do this.

Minister Enoch said linking a COVID-19 digital certificate to the Check In Qld app was optional.

“People can also download a copy of their COVID-19 digital certificate to their Apple wallet or Google Pay to show or provide a printed copy of their immunisation history statement if they prefer,” she said.

From December 17, proof of vaccination will be required at many locations and businesses across Queensland, including:

  • Visitors to hospitals, residential aged care, disability accommodation and prisons
  • Hospitality venues such as hotels, pubs, clubs, taverns, bars, restaurants or cafes
  • Indoor entertainment venues such as nightclubs, live music venues, karaoke bars, concerts, theatres or cinemas
  • Outdoor entertainment venues such as sporting stadiums and theme parks
  • Festivals – indoor and outdoor – such as music festivals, folk festivals or arts festivals
  • Queensland Government-owned galleries, museums or libraries.
