Don’t panic, but do you realise it’s less than four weeks to Christmas Day?
We know the South Burnett’s starting to get festive when Christmas carnivals begin to pop up … it was Goomeri’s turn last Saturday, and Kumbia’s on this Sunday!
The other annual event that marks Christmas in the South Burnett is the Mayor’s Community Christmas Luncheon.
Diners paid $25 each to gather in Kingaroy Town Hall on Tuesday to enjoy the charity lunch, served up by volunteers from local QCWA branches.
Raffles added to the profits, which will be donated to South Burnett families in need this Christmas.
Local singing sensation Julee-anne Bell provided the Christmas music on stage, while CROW-FM’s Matt Collins compered.
Guest speaker was Australian Olympian Matthew Denny who came in fourth spot in the discus throw at this year’s Tokyo Olympics.
Matthew threw a personal best in the final round but just missed out on a podium spot.
Cr Danita Potter quizzed Matthew about his career.
He spoke about the disappointment of losing and bouncing back, resilience and the development of pathways for young rural athletes.
