Work was due to start on Monday on a major safety upgrade of the Bunya Highway / Silverleaf Road intersection at Murgon.
The project has been jointly funded by the Federal and State governments,
A dedicated, right-turn lane will be installed at the intersection for traffic turning into Silverleaf Road from the Bunya Highway.
“This project will improve safety by separating through and turning traffic, minimising the potential for rear-end crashes,” Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce said.
Federal Member for Wide Bay Llew O’Brien said while the State Government was responsible for funding the maintenance and repair of the Bunya Highway, this investment from the Federal Government had helped ensure the important safety upgrade was prioritised and fast-tracked.
