Olympic volleyballer Taliqua Clancy will be the special guest speaker at this year’s South Burnett Mayor’s annual Community Christmas Luncheon.

The lunch – which raises funds to support local families in need – will held at on Tuesday, November 30, at Kingaroy Town Hall.

Tickets are $25 a head and are available now at all Council Customer Service Centres.

“This luncheon is an opportunity for us to come together, share a wonderful meal, think about how privileged we are to live in this beautiful region, and pay it forward to those in our community who may be doing it tough,” Mayor Otto said.

“Christmas is a time for hope and a time for giving, so please purchase a ticket to the Mayor’s Community Christmas Luncheon so we can make it an extra special Christmas for everyone in our region.”

Taliqua Clancy grew up in Kingaroy and is a proud Wulli Wulli and Goreng Goreng woman. She is the first Indigenous Australian volleyball player to represent Australia in beach volleyball at the Olympics.

“The Voice” star Julee-anne Bell will also be singing and there will be a raffle with a variety of prizes donated by South Burnett businesses.
