The well-known statue of a bullocky outside the South Burnett Timber Museum in Haly Street, Wondai

October 28, 2021

The South Burnett Timber Industry Museum turns 20 years old in November, and to celebrate an historical photograph competition is being held to portray the region’s timber industry.

The competition, which is being organised by South Burnett Regional Council, will showcase the history and evolution of the timber industry in the South Burnett over the past 100 years.

Discover South Burnett is looking for photos that depict the historical reality of the timber industry over time so Council can build a digitized image collection for future generations.

Council is looking for photos of timbergetters, bullock teams, people at work or much-loved places in the South Burnett tied to the timber industry.

The photos can be artistic, gritty, smiley or candid – and in any condition – but must have been taken in the South Burnett region.

Entry forms are available at the South Burnett Timber Industry Museum at 80 Haly Street, Wondai.

All entries must be submitted by 5:00pm on November 22.
