A South Burnett Regional Council project to develop a 30-year plan for the region’s Council-owned water and wastewater assets has been recognised with an industry award.
The Total Asset Management Strategy (TAMS) project was developed by Council staff, alongside GenEng Solutions and ATC Consulting.
It received a Highly Commended award in the Innovation & Sustainability In Water category at the recent Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia Queensland awards.
The awards were announced at the IPWEAQ annual conference in Cairns last week.
Cr Roz Frohloff, who holds the water and wastewater portfolio, said the TAMS project would help residents and the environment, and provide opportunities for industry growth.
Independent studies addressed growth in demand, the condition of assets, water security and financial sustainability.
