Kingaroy auctioneer Corey Evans has taken out the 2021 ALPA Young Auctioneers Competition after putting in a stunning display at Roma Saleyards on Tuesday.

The competition, which featured 10 finalists, had originally been scheduled for the Brisbane Ekka but was shifted to Roma when the Ekka was cancelled.

The 10 finalists were:

  • Corey Evans, Aussie Land & Livestock, Kingaroy
  • Jacob Gaske, Hayes & Co, Silverdale
  • Morgan Harris, TopX, Gracemere
  • Simon Kinbacher, Elders, Rockhampton
  • Jake Robinson, Nutrien Ag Solutions, Dalby
  • Justin Rohde, Nutrien Ag Solutions, Rockhampton
  • Ashley Steel, Hourn & Bishop Qld, Moura
  • Cody Trost, Grant Daniel Long, Blackall
  • Wyatt Wrigley, Eastern Rural, Dalby

Corey, 23, works for Aussie Land & Livestock in Kingaroy and has done so since he left school.

As well as being a familiar face at the Coolabunia and Murgon saleyards, Corey is also well-known at local shows, preparing and leading cattle from his family’s Jen-Daview Limousins stud.

He has competed in the ALPA competition four times, and was a finalist in 2020.

Simon Kinbacher, from Elders in Rockhampton, was second in this year’s event.
